This was taken over a year ago, but it stands as my all time favorite photo of my kids. They were tired that day from climbing up the ever-so-steep sand dune at Warren Dunes State Park and very anxious to go back down to the very cold Lake Michigan water. But they conceded, knowing Dad needed to see what we were doing on this beautiful Indiana day while most kids were stuck in school behind a desk.
We had just returned a few days prior from our annual vacation in Alabama. We took our babysitter, Logan Brune that year…making it so much easier on ME. I’m not always so adventurous. It comes and goes in spurts. On this beautiful day, when it came, I took full advantage of my adventurous spirit and on a whim texted Logan to see if she was up for helping me take the kiddos to the dunes for the day. She happened to be free, because her senior class was away on their senior class trip and she didn’t go with them. So off we went for a very fun day. Only thing missing was the Dad.
This year, I wanted to take Logan with us on vacation. But she quit college mid-semester to start a great job…which she couldn’t get away from to vacation with us. Nor could she get away for a spur-of-the-moment adventure to Lake Michigan. Those job things…they just seem to get in the way.
