Differences between the firstborn five-year-old and the last born five-year-old.

1st Born: makes his own pancakes and enough for his siblings, and at times even cleans up the mess
Last Born: sits at the table with fingers in mouth, waiting expectantly for anyone older to serve him a pancake, put syrup on it and cut it into pieces to be consumed.

1st Born: teaches himself only what he very much wants to know to the very last detail. And becomes an expert on that subject.
Last Born: is lucky if he learns anything, especially on his own. Yet, he is somehow incredibly smart.

1st Born: is showering himself and efficiently ready for the day without any reminders. Never needs help anymore with almost anything, especially reminders.
Last Born: could do the bathroom dailies alone, but prefers help. Lucky if he wears underwear without being reminded. (True story!)

1st Born: talks to everyone about things he knows they'll be interested in. Communicates well.
Last Born: has only been talking for two years. Hides behind parents when people try talking to him. With fingers in mouth.
