Getting the Bomb

The ball got dropped on me today. My stress level went up 100%. The boys ganged up on me at our staff meeting today. I felt pressured. Tried to resist. But sometimes you just have to do things, even when they put you out of your comfort zone.
I detest talking in front of large groups. Let’s say 100+ large. I can barely communicate to Isabela in Spanish, let alone 100 kids that don’t get my lingo. So Im supposed to communicate to a bunch of kids about the importance of nutrition? Just call me Moses. Because this will be like convincing Pharoah to let the Isrealites go. Like Moses had Aaron, I will have my own interpreter...our friend, Julio. Calms my nerves a bit.
It helps to be passionate about my topic. I do want these kids to understand why we are going to provide them fresh nutritious snacks. Sometimes it helps to have a “why” behind new ideas. But yet, I fear their ability to truly comprehend terms like “empty calories” and “preservatives to extend shelf life” (Does that even translate?). However, I’ve explained some of why we will serve what we will serve to Isabela. She gets it. Especially about the Kefir (yogurt’s cousin). I told her how it really helps with digestion and your immune system as well. I demonstrated how to make it...oh, so easy. A few days later she asked if she could have some of the little animals (referring to the Kefir starter) to make her own at her house, because one of her daughters was having digestive problems. She’s a quick learner. Today, she asked me if it was going to be an issue that she doesn’t have a refrigerator to store it once it grows. I asked her if she had a cold place in her house. Of course there is. Probably everywhere except the kitchen. That will do.

Yeh, so if you don’t mind, I’d appreciate your prayers for me late Thursday morning. For me up front of a bunch of culturally different kids…and for the kids. In our family time, we’ve been talking about expecting something bigger than we can do on our own. That makes it God sized. My God sized prayer is that they not only take to heart my info, but that they get excited about it! I could have 100 kids lined up at the kitchen for “little animals” to make their own Kefir.
