This is not far from what he looks like at the end of each day. |
It’s interesting how your mind operates when you experience no water for three days. We first want to fix it as soon as possible. We can’t fix it. Circumstances prevent it and it’s out of our control. My first reaction is to get angry and then take it out on everyone around me…ya know, my sinful flesh reacting.
So as I washed dishes this morning, because we were delivered sufficient water at 6 a.m., my mind kept going to people in countries where there’s no water much more often than we are without. And I was so thankful to have enough to wash dirty hands, bathe dirty feet, take a much needed shower and catch up on 3 days of laundry. And, Britt even watered the very thirsty flowers in this dry season.

For some reason he loves to get dirty. He’s like a magnet to it. |
I’ve come to the conclusion over the months here that God uses these times to teach us to be content and to help us appreciate what we normally take for granted. I think different people have different challenges in life where when they are following Christ in obedience to Him, He uses each person or family’s weak characteristics to build them stronger and more grounded…representing Him in a way that reflects His own characteristics. Our family obviously has a long way to go when it comes to being content. But I thank Him for teaching me especially and feel honored to represent Him in and through All circumstances.
It's the "all circumstances" that I really struggle with. And, to be honest, when I hear people who are sitting in their comfortable lifestyles say it, I want to spew.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your willingness to share the hard times too... you make me think and count my gifts in my journey to be content in all circumstances!
