A Change In Perspective

Pardon the lapse of time since my last blog post. And you can’t see this from your vantage point, but I’m on my iMac that we shipped in the container…actually, my first time on this old friend. I got used to using my “microscopic-feeling” iPod or my not-quite-practical-for everything iPad. It takes forever to type a blog on an iPad with one finger, and my access to photos was very limited. So I pretty much shrugged away the idea of sitting down to write my thoughts each time a new blog idea would come to mind. Not to mention, our life was very stressful most of the month of October.

I wrote a whole blog about the perils of our container’s journey, read it over, looked for the pictures I took, couldn’t find them, and so decided not to publish it. If you really want to know the ugly details, you’ll have to ask me or Britt in a personal message. To sum it up…it cost us a lot of unexpected money and even more stress and a tense couple of weeks. It gave us a good picture of the corruption of this country first hand. But we aren’t here to solve their corrupt problems. We’re here to love on people and show them Christ’s love. We’re here to accept these beautiful people for who they are…to love them unconditionally.  That’s a hard thing to do. Don’t you think? To love someone unconditionally? But that’s what Jesus did, and expects us to do the same. I think its rather easy to resent a company that ripped us off thousands of dollars. Does Christ expect us to love them unconditionally too? I struggle with these things just as all humans with a sinful flesh do.

After scrolling through all the pictures we’ve taken since we’ve been here, looking for the ones of the moving truck, and not finding them, I noticed all the beautiful pictures we have a record of. So I will post a few of my favorites here for you to enjoy. Maybe it will do something to your heart as it did to mind…changes life’s perspective rather quickly!

  1. I can only imagine the shipping difficulties! My prayers are sent. Maybe you could include a map in one of your posts so I could figure out just exactly where Buena Vista is in Guatemala. I spent time in Chiquimula last spring with a service group from Indiana University Kokomo and fell in love with the people and their culture. Blessing to your family and mission.
